The Global Peace & Unity Event 2010

The GPU event this year is to be held on 23rd-24th October 2010.  It promises to be a bigger and better event than the previous years.

Yusuf Estes and Dr. Zaghloul El-Naggar are already confirmed speakers according to the GPU twitter page: http://twitter.com/GPUEvent

My contacts at the GPU offices have told me that the following are also confirmed speakers:

Mr Mohammad Ijaz ul-Haq – (son of former Pakistan president Zia-Ul-Haq)

Hussain Yee  – (Al-Khadeem)

Rabbi Yisroel David Weiss – (Neturei Karta International)

Yasir Qadhi – (Al-Maghrib Institute)

Rt Rev Riah Hanna Abu El-Assal – (Former Bishop of Jerusalem)

There are rumours that Dr Abu Rahman Al-Sudais may also attend as a speaker.   The GPU team are also working on inviting Ministers and dignitaries from all major political parties to the event this year.

If the previous years are something to go by then I also expect the likes of George Galloway & Ken Livingstone to attend.

There are other speakers who are yet to be confirmed.  I will update this post as soon as I hear more.

Government launches Extremist ‘Toolkit’ for Schools

Our future hopes and aspirations lie in our children, children are our future.  It would be every parents nightmare to know their child could be exposed to extremist ideology in schools.  Most parents would agree the extremist ‘toolkit’ is welcome news.  Extremist groups  are known to target children to further their own selfish ambitions. These same people encourage hatred and division amongst people of different sects, race, religion, encourage killing and suicide bombing under the pretext of Jihad etc  whereas Islam encourages peaceful co-existence as long freedom of worship is permitted.

How convenient that these so called  ‘lslamic’ groups  also forget about the charitable example of the Holy Prophet (SAW) of giving away all his personal material wealth for spending on the poor and meek, or his example of worship in establishing a spiritual relationship with Allah so much so that all who met him would stand in love, respect and awe of such a one.  What about his magnanimity in victory to forgive his oppressors?  Can they give such an example?   Was the Holy Prophet doing all this in the name of politics?  People who try to define Islam with a single bullet point often do it injustice.
May Allah (SWT) keep our children safe. Ameen.
